TRAFFIC AND CLOSURES
The 2019 Longhorn Run will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2019, starting at 8:00AM at The University of Texas at Austin just West of 21st. Street and Speedway. The race will end by 10:00AM at the same location, followed by a post-race celebration at the steps of the UT Tower. The race features two courses, a 10K (starts at 8:00AM) and 5K (starts at 8:15AM).
Not all roads on the course will experience a full closure.
The following streets will experience a full closure:
- E 27th. St
- Wichita St.
- Whitis Ave.
The following streets on the UT campus will experience full closures:
- E 23rd St.
- E 21st St.
- San Jacinto Blvd.
Alternative northbound and southbound routes are available via Guadalupe St., Lamar Blvd, and Duval St.
We anticipate the majority of streets will be completely reopened by 10:00am. We will be working closely with Austin Police Department and The University of Texas Police Department to open streets as soon as possible as well as provide alternative entry points for residences and businesses on the course.
